🏆 Regional Champions! 🏐

Posted on 11/15/2024
Last night was something special. From the beginning, we knew this team had the physical talent to go all the way. Our defense is lightning-fast, covering the court like no other, and our offense is unstoppable, firing from every angle.
But last night, it wasn’t just about skill—it was about heart. These girls stepped onto that court with belief, confidence, and a determination I haven’t seen in a while. They fought, they persevered, and most importantly, they had fun. You could see it in the way they played—a switch flipped, and the fierce competitors we know and love came alive.
When they started to see themselves the way we see them, everything clicked. It was an incredible performance, and they earned every bit of it.
The hard work, dedication, and grit are paying off—but we’re not done yet. There’s just over a week left to make this dream come true. One day, one game, one point at a time.
Keep pushing, ladies. Keep believing. And most of all, keep having fun. We are so proud of you, and we hope you’re proud of yourselves too! 💙

Sophomore Shoutout!

Sydney and AJ

Posted on 11/15/2024
Shoutout to Two of Our Team’s Backbone Players!
There are two players who consistently give everything they have to make our team better, even if they aren’t always the ones you see on the court. But trust me, we feel their impact every single second of every single game.
Sydney Kreger and AJ Ratcliff bring boundless energy, focus, and accountability to our team. They play a much bigger role than most people realize — keeping everyone on track, hyping us up, and always paying attention to the details. They’re constantly observing other teams’ defenses, finding key spots for our offense, and advising our defense on adjustments. They have truly become both coach and hype girl in one.
Beyond all of that, they’re the first to step up when needed, bringing confidence and delivering exactly what we need, right when we need it.
As a coach, I can say with 100% confidence that we’d be lost without Sydney and AJ. They might not earn as many kills or digs as others, but their value to our team is undeniable. Thank you, Sydney and AJ — your teammates and coaches see you, appreciate you, and know how vital you are to our success!

Kyah and Addi

Posted on 11/15/2024
Being part of a team isn’t easy, but it’s one of the most rewarding experiences out there. It teaches you how to work with others, how to trust and respect people you might not always connect with outside of the team, and it instills humility, selflessness, and the grit to fight for what you want. Every day, we see these lessons come to life with our incredible defense — the thankless, selfless foundation of our team. While offense often gets the spotlight, our defensive players are the unsung heroes, giving us the consistency we need to succeed.
Today, I want to shine a light on two of our defensive stars who are vital to our success:
• Kyah Lynn: A three-year varsity player who plays every defensive position with precision and energy. Kyah’s control and touch on the ball are exceptional, and her serves set the tone at the start of each game. Her consistency in serve receive has been a huge asset for us this year!
• Addison Woodruff: Addison wears our Libero jersey with pride, bringing calmness and reliability to the team. She reads the game exceptionally well, handling both hard-driven and short balls with ease. Addison’s presence on serve receive is invaluable, and her steady energy lifts everyone around her.
We are so lucky to have these incredible players on our team. Kyah and Addison, we see you, we appreciate you, and we’d be lost without you! Thank you for everything you bring to the court every single day.

Survive and Advance

Posted on 11/15/2024
Survive and Advance 💪🏽—that’s exactly what we’re doing! At this point, every coach wants their team peaking in November, and while tonight wasn’t our sharpest, these girls showed unbelievable resilience. Couldn’t be prouder of their grit and teamwork!
Sometimes, the game doesn’t unfold as planned, but with a group like this, there’s always something special to build on. Tonight, we had rock-solid defense, key offensive plays, and a true team win. Regional finals are up next on Thursday—let’s keep pushing! So proud to be their coach!
Shoutout to Cassidy with 22 kills leading the way, Sophomore Camille Robinson with 15, Ella Chantrenne with 12, and Krista Brannen adding eight. Taegen Anderson came through with 49 assists, while Addison Woodruff and Ella kept us strong on defense with 27 and 19 digs each.

District Finals

Posted on 11/11/2024
THIS TEAM! I’m beyond proud of these girls for the constant work they’re putting into each other and their shared vision. This week was the first step, and while there’s still plenty of work ahead, today we celebrate all the moments that have brought us here, one day at a time. Through every bump in the road, they’ve just kept pushing back.
Playing back-to-back days isn’t easy, but their ability to refocus and lock in on the job at hand showed incredible mental growth. They executed the game plan with precision, flushed mistakes, and moved forward with determination.
They’ve earned this trophy and back-to-back district titles! Be proud, ladies—because I know you’re hungry for even more! 🏆💪

1st Round of Districts

Posted on 11/11/2024

Last night was the first round of district play against Olivet, and the girls came out strong, dominating most of the match! A little slip in Game 3 was the reminder they needed that in playoffs, it’s win or go home. There’s no looking back to wish you’d gone for that ball or given a little more for your team. It’s all about surviving and advancing, and these girls are true fighters! They know it’s a journey, staying focused on one game, one point at a time. Couldn’t be prouder of what each of these girls brings to this incredible team! Great win, HCVB! 🏐💪

End of our regular-season

Posted on 10/31/2024
So proud of this team! It’s hard to believe today marked our last regular-season play date. Tomorrow, the season we’ve been building up to finally begins – the one they’ve been waiting for since day one. Every single day, these girls have pushed their limits, both physically and mentally. From the start, it’s been about balancing one game at a time while keeping our eyes on the ultimate goal: being the team still standing in the end.
This team has laughed, cried, faced tough days, and come out stronger every time. They’ve learned from their setbacks and hit back harder. They’re trusting each other, doing the little things right, and becoming a unit that’s unstoppable. The fire and determination in these girls is unmatched. Sure, some days they make me want to pull my hair out, but mostly I’m inspired to keep finding ways to challenge them more!
Each player is a unique piece of this puzzle, and we couldn’t be here without every single one of them. Proud of the journey we’ve been on, and beyond excited for what’s next! Tomorrow, we dive into the season we’ve all been waiting for – let’s do this!

Lowell Quad

Posted on 10/29/2024

HCVB hit the road to Lowell for a quad, ready to face some serious competition. The girls went up against Caledonia, Lowell, and Mattawan, and while we came up short against Lowell and Caledonia, we snagged a hard-fought win against Mattawan. It’s been a while since our team has had to dig in like this, and it was exactly the kind of challenge we needed to see what it takes to compete at the top. Back in the gym today – there’s work to be done, and we’re here for it! Let’s keep pushing, HCVB!

Marshall Tri

Posted on 10/14/2024
HCVB hit the road to Marshall Monday for a tri-match against Gull Lake and Kalamazoo Christian. The girls might have been a bit sleepy, but they still brought home two wins.
I want to take a moment to highlight two key players who might not always get the spotlight but are absolutely essential to this team: AJ Ratcliff and Sydney Kruger. It wasn’t our best volleyball, but we could always count on AJ and Sydney to bring their energy and keep everyone accountable. We’d be lost without them!
These two not only keep the team going but also keep me smiling through it all. Thank you, AJ and Sydney—you mean more to this team than you’ll ever know!

Miss Volleyball

Posted on 09/27/2024
Huge congratulations to Cassidy Pratley for being named to the 2024 Miss Volleyball List!
This is an incredible achievement, as the Miss Volleyball Award is the highest honor a high school volleyball player can earn in the state of Michigan!
Cassidy is one of only 10 standout seniors across the state to be named a finalist for this prestigious award, which has been recognizing Michigan’s top talent for the past 21 years.
This is more than just a season's work—this is a career award that reflects years of dedication, hard work, and excellence on the court. The Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association has recognized Cassidy’s outstanding high school career, and we couldn’t be prouder! 💪🙌
Let’s cheer her on as she continues to make her mark!
